A downloadable tool for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Cassetter is a MIDI controlled granular sampler. It was created as a companion application to the livecoding environment ORCΛ
Powered by ToneJS, Svelte and Electron.
First you need to select the folder in which the required samples are stored in the wav format. Now you can select a sample for each channel.
The sampler receives MIDI CC signals. Knob 0 starts the sample, the rest set the parameter value.
Knob 0 has 4 values:
- o - Play a sample once;
- l - Play a sample loop;
- r - Play a sample once in reverse;
- q - Play a sample loop in reverse;
For example, a signal !40o will play a sample on channel 4 once.
Other values will stop playback.
Other knobs range from 0 to z.
Hotkey:
- Ctrl or Cmd + f - Select the sample folder
- Ctrl or Cmd + s - Save parameters
- Ctrl or Cmd + o - Open a parameter file
- Shift + ↑ or ↓ - Channel selection
- ↑ or ↓ - Selecting a parameter or a sample
- ← or → - Change a parameter

Hey, was wondering if there was another download for apple can't seem to get it to open with the given files.
Hey, thanks for this really cool software, I would like to know if someone here managed to add alpha to the background of the program, I'm using electron, I tried to inspect and do it like with ORCA; background: #00000000, but it didn't work, any help would be really appreciated, I would like to play visuals as the background of this really nice program :)
Hi, I am trying to use the macos version 0.1.0 (the other version doesn't start at all), but after I import the folder I am unable to assign them to the channels. I opened the console, and found some errors. Do you have an idea what the problem could be? Thanks in advance.
Hi! I'm sorry, but it seems that the code and tools of the program are obsolete (it's about 2 years old now). And it should be rewritten using new tools. But right now I don't have time to spend on it. It's a very simple program and its code is open, maybe someone can update it.
Hi! how can I change MIDI port on windows vers? Application set automatically my audio interface but I want to change it to loopMIDI. I have not found any hotkey to change it. thanks!
Not sure what's wrong, but I can't seem to get any sounds generated. I'm on win10 running rtpMIDI and both Orca and Cassetter find my MIDI port, but they don't seem to be communicating. Orca and Pilot communicate just fine. I've also tried the current build on GitHub to no success and 0.1.0 and 0.1.1. My guess is it's rtpMIDI's fault, but would love any suggestions
Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. Needed to use loopMIDI and not rtpMIDI for this use case. Hope this helps somebody else and thank you for the great software :)
Hello, I'm also on Windows 10, it also wasn't working for me on version 0.1.1, but on 0.1.0 it works fine (with loppMIDI).

hi! Sorry, there was a build for arm) Unfortunately I only have the opportunity to test on Mac with M1. I uploaded the new version, in theory it should work :) Let me know if it does not start either, I will try to do something else.
